Co-established with the native elves and built on the slaughter of a tyrannical black dragon, Cormyr has long established itself with a legacy of chivalry and military might spanning 1461 years. The Obarskyr royal line has ruled since Cormyr’s founding and recently crowned the second-ever queen Raedra who has ushered in an era of peace and healing after a long war with Sembia.
The Purple Dragon Knights
Cormyr’s army of Purple Dragon Knights is the largest of any kingdom in Faerun. When not in war, the Purple Dragon Knights serve as stalwart city watchmen and crown guards, travel the main roads slaying bandits and monsters.
The War Wizards
An elite collection of skilled mages, predominantly wizards, loyal to Cormyr and known throughout Faerun for their skill. Though their ranks include only a few hundred, what they lack in size, they make up for in sheer mastery of the arcane. War Wizards serve alongside the Purple Dragon Knights during times of war, and protect the capital city Suzail in times of peace.
Adventurers
As monstrous threats from the Storm Horns and the Hullack Forest increase, and after concluding a long war with Sembia, Queen Raedra has paused Cormyr’s expansion efforts to focus on defending and strengthening its borders. To aid in the recovery of her realm, Queen Raedra oftentimes enlists the help of strong adventuring parties to root out evil in exchange for treasure and land. Adventurers are respected members of Cormyr’s security who accrue much wealth and renowned should they live into old age.
Suzail
The port city capital of Cormyr. Home to the famed Dragon Throne constructed from the bones of the great black dragon that represents Cormyr, Suzail is a beacon of wealth, prosperity, and hope to all the realm. Its main sources of income are trade, fishing, and agricultural goods.
Suzail Writ
A fifty-year-old piece of legislation that holds Cormyr’s monarch to the same laws as the rest of its citizens, and that grants anyone the right to a trial.
Dragons
Many dark beasts crawl from the crags of the monsters or slither up from the sea, but the most ancient and powerful beings in Cormyr are the dragons. Dragons were the first occupants of the Heartlands, before even the elves of Cormanthor, and dozens of active dragon lairs litter the wilds, as do countless remnants of long-abandoned lairs. Rumors have it that many places along the coast of the Sea of Fallen Stars are experiencing dragon attacks, and that perhaps the Cult of the Dragon conducts their vile rituals to Tiamat somewhere in Sembia.
Pools of Radiance
Leftover from the Spellplague which destroyed all magic for nearly ten years, pools of radiance are open wounds in the Weave—powerful, naturally occurring fonts of raw magic. The water of these pools shimmers and shines with a unearthly glow. It is said that great might can be gained from harnessing a pool of radiance, whether for good or ill. Though experts claim that nearly all of Faerun’s pools of radiance are in the Heartlands region, those who claim to have seen them are few and no accounts of true contact can be confirmed.
